Answers For Common Questions

  • Why haven’t I heard of Clean Waste Systems?

Clean Waste Systems may seem like a new player in medical waste processing solutions, but in reality, we’ve been active in the industry for years, performing intensive research and development to refine our systems. Our team of experts has been deeply involved in identifying, troubleshooting and solving the bio-waste treatment industry’s biggest challenges, and the time spent has resulted in our revolutionary, highly-effective systems.

We currently have 10 active installs in hospitals and processing facilities across the U.S., and as we continue to pioneer the use of ozone in medical waste treatment, you’ll be seeing and hearing the Clean Waste Systems name much more. Contact us to learn more about creating a Clean Waste Systems first adopter program for your organization, which rewards facilities who choose to implement our systems in this phase of our growth.

  • Does your solution really work as advertised?

Our ozone medical waste treatment technology is highly-credentialed, approved for use in the U.S., and scientifically proven. We know that not only is our patented Humidizone® technology extraordinarily effective in sanitizing medical waste, it does so with absolutely zero emissions, hazardous fumes, chemicals, steam or heat. Our continuous process is safer to employees and offers more operational efficiency than other sanitization processes.

  • What happens if my system breaks down or needs maintenance?

Clean Waste Systems solutions are as reliable as traditional waste processing methods — if not more so, thanks to our comprehensive Quarterly ServicePlus Maintenance Plan offered with every system purchase. These routine, 2-day visits from an expert Clean Waste Systems technician proactively ensure your system is operating optimally and delivering the best possible performance.

In the unlikely event of system downtime, our team will respond rapidly, working with you to adhere to your facility’s standard operating procedures while servicing your system with the necessary urgency and professionalism. This response may include alternative processing solutions for the duration of your system’s downtime to ensure waste does not accumulate on-site.

As a Clean Waste Systems customer, you’ll always have quick and easy access to support: Our 24/7 on-call technicians can be immediately dispatched to your facility for on-site support in addition to their availability via phone or virtual meeting.

  • Is the cost-benefit of your solution really better than traditional medical waste processing?

Our system offers superior ROI both in terms of cost-savings and operational optimizations. Our systems greatly reduce an organization’s water and energy costs; the 80% reduction in cubic waste also contributes to significantly reduced shipping and landfill costs.

The intangible benefits of our solution — which include a safer, cleaner and less odorous workplace, reduced liability, simple operation, reduced sorting/storage/logistics, and greatly improved environmental sustainability — pay dividends both operationally and in terms of your company’s reputation in a culture increasingly invested in combating the devastating threat of climate change.

  • Can your system handle my facility’s large volume of waste?

Clean Waste Systems offers two models to accommodate a wide range of waste processing needs. Ideal for on-site installation in hospitals and for haulers interested in providing Regulated Medical Waste (RMW) services, the OMW-400 is our medium-capacity model processing up to 400 lbs. (181 kg) of medical waste per hour.

Our large-capacity processing system, the OMW-1000, can process up to 1,000 lbs. (453 kg) of medical waste per hour. The OMW-1000 is optimal for larger hospitals and haulers requiring a safer, more efficient option for large-scale medical waste treatment.

If your facility’s waste processing needs exceed 1,000 lbs./hr, our team can work with you to determine a combination of multiple OMW systems that will meet your high-volume needs while making efficient use of your on-site space. • Do I need to be an expert in ozone technology to operate a Clean Waste System solution?

Absolutely not! Clean Waste Systems solutions are exceedingly simple to operate and test. We know that moving your waste treatment in-house may seem daunting under any circumstances, but especially when you are unfamiliar with the technology and processes involved. That’s why we’re dedicated to being here for our customers, making it easy for you to manage your system in both the short- and long-term.

Our team will be on-site for installation and for a week thereafter to ensure your new system is working as it should. During that time, we’ll train you and your team of operators  on our remarkably simple operation and ongoing testing processes, so you can feel confident about the safe, reliable and sanitary use of the system.

After our team has left your site, we remain available to you for any questions or concerns you may have. Our 24/7 on-call technicians are always available to Clean Waste Systems customers to answer questions and respond to maintenance requests.

  • What makes Clean Waste Systems’ ozone medical waste treatment technology so effective?

Ozone is a form of oxygen (O3) that rapidly decays to the type of oxygen we breathe (O2), making it a strong oxidizing agent. Clean Waste Systems’ proprietary Humidizone™ process leverages this powerful oxidation effect to treat medical waste by injecting ozone through water to achieve maximum decontamination.

Our ozone medical waste treatment technology is highly credentialed, approved for use in the U.S., and scientifically proven. Not only is our patented Humidizone® technology extraordinarily effective in sanitizing medical waste, it does so with absolutely zero emissions, hazardous fumes, chemicals, steam or heat. Our continuous process is safer for employees and offers more operational efficiency than other sanitization processes.

  • Is ozone safe?

Yes! Not only is ozone safe to use, it is 3,000 times more effective at sanitization than chlorine. Ozone is extremely versatile, and is currently used across a variety of industries, such as commercial pools, wastewater treatment, laundry, grocery, meat packing and many others.

In Clean Waste Systems’ ozone medical waste treatment systems, ambient ozone monitors are used to control ozone levels. Any unused ozone is then reverted to ambient air through an ozone destruct system.
